Explore Jama Masjid, the “Great Mosque”, and enjoy its massive courtyard and take a rickshaw through the old bazaar. This morning you’ll visit the Agra Fort en-route to your hotel in Agra. Later in the day you’ll tour the majestic Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is known as one of the wonders of the world. This marble masterpiece is a stunning example of the perfect interplay of art and architecture. Built in memory of his wife Mumtaj Mahal, this mausoleum today houses the remains of both the king and the queen. (B)
This morning you’ll travel via the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri to Jaipur. Fatehpur Sikri was founded by the mighty Mughal Emperor Akbar who chose this place to create a new capital for India. The ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur is a friendly, busy city crammed with palaces and bazaars full of jewellery, textiles and folk-based arts. It is a firm favourite with travellers. (B)
Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital, is an enthralling historical city and the gateway to India’s most flamboyant state. The city’s colourful, chaotic streets ebb and flow with a heady brew of old and new. Careering buses dodge dawdling camels and leisurely cycle-rickshaws frustrate swarms of motorbikes. Visit the Amber Fort, the Hawa Mahal or the ‘Palace of the Winds’, the Royal City Palace and discover the extravagance of a Bollywood blockbuster, with all the Hollywood-style elements of action, romance, drama and music at the spectacular Raj Mandir Cinema.
