Visit beautiful Inle lake, famous for its floating villages and gardens, and the leg-rowers of the Intha tribe, before finishing in the former royal capital of Rangoon (Yangon) with its magnificent Shwedagon pagoda.

Mandalay – Maymyo – Pagan – Inle Lake – Rangoon

Day 1 – Mandalay
Arrive in Mandalay and transfer to Mandalay Hill Resort for 2 nights. Afternoon visit to Mahamuni pagoda, then on to Amarapura to visit the Mahagandayon monastery, ending with sunset at U Bein bridge. Welcome dinner. (D)
Day 2 – Maymyo
Morning visit of Mandalay Palace and its fort, followed by a full-day trip to Maymyo (Pyin Oo Lwin), a former British hill station. Take a horse-drawn cart to see grand colonial houses, and visit a local market. Lunch is at the Club Terrace in Maymyo, followed by a visit to the National Kandawgyi Gardens. (B, L)
Day 3 – To Pagan
Cross the river to Sagaing Hill to visit the pagodas. Cross back to visit the ancient royal capital of Inwa (Ava) and take a horse-drawn cart to visit the Bagayar monastery, before flying to Nyaung U. On arrival, transfer to the Aye Yar River View Resort in Pagan (or similar) for 3 nights. (B, L)
Day 5 – Pagan
Optional sunrise balloon ride over Pagan (October to March only. Must be booked in advance). Full-day tour of Pagan, including the Ananda, Dhammayangyi and Htilominlo temples. (B)
Day 6 – Pagan
Full-day tour of Pagan, including Shwezigon pagoda, Lawkananda and Dhammayazika temples. End the day with a sunset cruise on the Irrawaddy river. (B)
Day 7 – Inle Lake
Morning flight to Heho and transfer to Inle lake. In the afternoon, take a tour of the floating villages, gardens and temples around the lake. Stay 2 nights at the Amata Garden Resort (or similar). (B, L, D)
Day 8 – Rangoon
Morning flight to Rangoon, then visit the Kalaywatawya monastery. Continue to the city via a stop outside Aung San Suu Kyi’s gated home, and on to the Chatrium Hotel (or similar) for a 2-night stay. (B)
Day 9 – Rangoon
Visit Shwedagon pagoda, then take a walking tour of the downtown area. See the reclining Buddha and the National Museum, then end the day with afternoon tea at the Belmond Governor’s Residence. Farewell dinner at Le Planteur. (B, D)
Day 10 – Depart Rangoon
Optional visit to the Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) market. Transfer to the airport to continue your journey. (B)
